How To Make A Rhyme

Making a jump rope rhyme is surprisingly easy. Basically, you just throw some rhymes together and you're done! It doesn't even have to make sense (as you'll see in my example). You can be as silly or as funny as you want to be. Here's 5 simple steps to get you started.
Number 1 - Read some rhymes to get an idea of what a jump rope rhyme is like. For example, visit our Traditional Rhyme and Kid's Rhyme pages.

Number 2 - Think of something that you like a lot. Something you'll want to write your rhyme about. Make a list of 5 things you like the best. Here's my list:
  1. Chocolate
  2. Cats
  3. Snow
  4. Books
  5. Sleep

Number 3 - Make up a first sentence using one of the things on your list. Like, say I used "chocolate." My first sentence might be:

"Chocolate, Chocolate so delicious and sweet."

Number 4 - Now make a second sentence that rhymes with your first sentence, and is about the same length. Here's my second sentence:

"Chocolate, Chocolate, I like to smush it with my feet."

Number 5 - Then just continue those two steps until you feel like it's done. Here's my finished product:

"Chocolate, Chocolate, so delicious and sweet,
Chocolate, Chocolate, I like to smush it with my feet
Chocolate, Chocolate, it's so fine
Chocolate, Chocolate, how I wish you were mine.
How many Chocolates can I eat? 1, 2, 3...

That was so easy! I want to make another one:

Sleep, sleep I don't get enough
Sleep, sleep tho the working day is tough.
Sleep, sleep what could be better than that?
Sleep, sleep think I'll take a nap.
How many days can I sleep? 1, 2, 3...
Anyway, you get the idea. And you don't have to repeat the first word either, or even make your first word one from your list. Be creative and do it your way. And have fun! That's an order.

Our Fundraising Kit allows kids to make their own beaded, rainbow jump ropes. Imagine if the kids made their own ropes, their own rhymes, and then performed them for the school. It makes a perfect field day and a sure bet for fundraising. Contact us for more information on how to get started. And check out the fundraising kit using the link above.
